Everton F.C.
Andalusian Sports Advisors served as the buyside advisor to The Friedkin Group on its majority acquisition of Everton Football Club. Everton is one of the Premier League’s most historic clubs, having been a founding member of both the Football League in 1888 and the Premier League in 1992. As the sole buyside financial advisor to The Friedkin Group, ASA led all deal-related workstreams, including investment structuring, coordination of diligence workstreams, and negotiations with various stakeholders. The Friedkin Group’s purchase of Everton sets the stage for a new period of stability and success for the club.
Los Angeles Chargers
Andalusian Sports Advisors served as the sellside advisor to Dea Spanos Berberian on the sale of her 24% stake in the Los Angeles Chargers to Tom Gores. Ms. Spanos Berberian’s siblings—Dean, Michael, and Alexis—each contributed 1% of their respective stakes in the Chargers to the transaction, resulting in a total sale of 27% of the team. ASA led a meticulous and confidential outreach strategy that focused on engaging credible buyers who fit within the Chargers’ existing organizational structure and were aligned with the Spanos family’s goals. The process resulted in a successful outcome, adding Mr. Gores as one of the NFL’s largest minority shareholders.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Andalusian Sports Advisors served as the sellside advisor to Jeff Vinik and Vinik Sports Group on the sale of a portion of the Tampa Bay Lightning to Doug Ostrover and Marc Lipschultz. The Lightning have been one of the NHL’s most successful teams since Vinik Sports Group acquired the franchise in 2010, winning two Stanley Cups and three Eastern Conference Championships during its ownership tenure. ASA led a highly targeted outreach process, focusing on high-probability investors in a discreet manner that limited press coverage and minimized organizational distractions. The process culminated in a successful transaction under which Vinik Sports Group will maintain operational control for a set period of time to facilitate a smooth transition to new ownership.
Philadelphia Eagles
Andalusian Sports Advisors served as the buyside advisor to a high-net-worth family on its acquisition of a minority stake in the Philadelphia Eagles. ASA was first engaged by the family to source and evaluate different NFL ownership opportunities. The opportunity to participate in the Philadelphia Eagles’ sustained success on and off the field was uniquely compelling. ASA worked with the family to secure its position as the preferred bidder and long-term partner for existing ownership.
Washington Commanders
Andalusian Sports Advisors served as the buyside advisor to Josh Harris on the majority acquisition of the Washington Commanders. The Commanders are a historic NFL franchise, having won three Super Bowls in the 1980s and 1990s. In 2022, the former owner announced that the Commanders were for sale, commencing a highly publicized bidding process for the team. ASA worked alongside Mr. Harris throughout the process—including bid strategy and negotiation, due diligence, and formation of the equity investor group. Following the successful acquisition, Mr. Harris and the equity consortium were welcomed in Washington, D.C., as the future stewards of the franchise.
Carolina Panthers
Andalusian Sports Advisors principals served as the buyside advisor to David Tepper on the purchase of a controlling stake in the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are one of the NFL’s newest franchises, having begun play in the 1995 season. In the 30 seasons since its founding, the team has won its division six times and competed in two Super Bowls. In 2018, ASA principals assisted David Tepper in acquiring the franchise, leveraging their extensive knowledge and network within the NFL to ensure a successful outcome.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Andalusian Sports Advisors principals served as the sellside advisor to David Tepper on the sale of his 10% stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mr. Tepper first purchased a share of the Steelers in 2009 and gradually increased his ownership over the next decade. His tenure as a minority owner of the Steelers enabled a smooth transition to his current position as the controlling owner of the Carolina Panthers. After Mr. Tepper acquired a controlling stake in the Panthers, ASA principals led a discreet process to sell his stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers.
